The USA Triathlon Southwest Region (USAT-SW) represents California, Nevada and Arizona and supports the over 16,000 USA Triathlon members in that area. We work to help everyone achieve their own level of excellence in the multi-sports of Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquathlon, Aquabike, Off-Road Triathlon, and Winter Triathlon. The 12-member Southwest Regional Council is an all-volunteer, elected body that works to support the national mission with a focus on the special concerns within our region. Each year the Southwest Regional Council meets at an annual meeting to develop a plan for the upcoming year and outline programs and initiatives to support all USAT constituents in the region.

The Council is also supported by many volunteers who serve on special committees, support programs, and develop inititiatives to increase participation in multi-sport activities in our region. The Southwest Regional Council is answerable to the National Board of Directors of USA Triathlon and is funded by a portion of annual membership dues. One of the most important responsibilities of the Southwest Regional Council is to represent our region’s members to the national office through advocacy, information sharing and (sometimes) arm twisting to make sure that the region’s needs are recognized and supported. We also serve as an important part of the Olympic pipeline for talented triathletes to enter USA Triathlon’s Olympic and World Championship Development Programs through supporting championship races, youth and junior programming, and paratriathlon events.
