Become a USA Triathlon Official!
Officials are of critical importance at USA Triathlon sanctioned events. Officials uphold and enforce USA Triathlon rules and help ensure a fair competition. You can become a USA Triathlon Official by participating at one of the many certification clinics held around the country each year.
About the clinics.
There is no charge for attending a USA Triathlon Officials Clinic. You must however, be a current member of USA Triathlon, complete a CAT 5 examination and bring it to the clinic along with your membership card. As part of the clinic, you will join the Officials team to work as course marshals at the Sanctioned Event the following day in order to complete your CAT 5 Practicum. The Officials Certification Clinic consists of approximately three hours of classroom lecture and discussion. Each clinic has a limited number of spaces and applicants are urged to contact the clinic instructor to reserve a space early. Clinic attendees will be provided with the following parts of the required USA Triathlon Official’s Uniform; Shirt, Cap, Badge & Lanyard. Clinic attendees must bring their own motorcycle helmet.
